For maximal athletic endurance, the right supply of nutrients is essential. SPORT boost with its fresh and fruity flavour is an isotonic drink. This is the difference between isotonic and hypotonic drinks:
Isotonic drinks
Isotonic drinks have a similar concentration of dissolved particles (e.g. sugar and electrolytes) as human blood. This similarity enables the fast absorption of the fluid into the body – especially important for balancing out lost fluid and electrolytes during sport or after training. Isotonic drinks are ideal for endurance athletes or during intensive training sessions as they help to optimise hydration and maintain a supply of energy without putting pressure on the digestive tract.
Hypotonic drinks
Hypotonic drinks have a lower concentration of dissolved particles than human blood. This means that they are absorbed by the body faster than isotonic drinks, making them an excellent choice for rehydration. Hypotonic drinks are particularly suitable for athletes who need high fluid intake but don’t require a huge amount of energy – as may be the case for less intensive, or shorter training units. They effectively support hydration without overloading the stomach or leaving one feeling full.
